VERACITY is a new generation non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) for the detection of fetal chromosomal aneuploidies and microdeletions.

It uses proprietary technology based on cutting-edge research and development in Molecular Genetics and Diagnostics.

VERACITY has been developed by an outstanding scientific team with over 25 years of experience in the field of prenatal diagnosis, molecular medicine, genomics, transcriptomics, methylomics and bioinformatics. It was designed by NIPD Genetics to avoid the shortcomings of other NIPTs.

VERACITY uses novel Targeted Enrichment Technology, that enables aneuploidy detection as well as fetal fraction measurement with unparalleled accuracy. Targeted regions on selected chromosomes and chromosomal regions are captured, enriched and analysed for the detection of aneuploidies and microdeletions using our proprietary genomic and bioinformatics technologies.

VERACITY can accurately detect trisomies such as; Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome and Patau syndrome.

VERACITY also tests for syndromes caused by sex chromosome aneuploidies and microdeletions as well as the option to know the gender of the baby.

The high accuracy of VERACITY has been demonstrated in several clinical validation studies using thousands of samples. VERACITY is fast, providing results to you within a few days from the blood sample arriving in the laboratory.

VERACITY is a safe test for both mother and the fetus because it is performed using a simple 10ml blood sample*- this will need to be collected by your Midwife, GP or Private Hospital – there may be a small charge for this service.

WHY IS VERACITY BETTER THAN THE CURRENT NHS COMBINED TEST?

Traditional screening offered during pregnancy is currently called the combined test. This is an ultrasound scan to measure the nuchal translucency (NT) and a blood test. This is much less accurate than NIPT and it only detects around 85% of babies with Down’s syndrome.

The Veracity test has a higher detection rate (up to 99%) than the current combined test offered to pregnant women. This means that fewer pregnant women will undergo unnecessary invasive follow-up procedures such as amniocentesis or CVS which are stressful, painful and can carry a small risk of miscarriage.

*We are unable to provide gender identification in dichorionic twins. Dichorionic means there are two placentas.

NIPD Genetics, the test provider, also offer a free written genetic counselling report in the event of a high-risk result. Alternatively, clients can opt for a telephone consultation, however this has an additional fee of €125.
